Where can I get skis and equipment? On weekends and throughout the holidays, we offer an onsite ski shop, a satellite of Extreme Sports. This is NOT the location that you would pick up skis for packages, remember, they are not offered during the holidays!

Where are you located? Are you slope side? We are located on top of Sugar Mountain, at the very top of Big Red Slope, which is intermediate. Our two bedroom units are ski in, ski out, all of the others are just a short walking distance.

What size are the units? They vary in size from efficiency to two bedroom. To be exact, the efficiencies are approximately 400 +/- sq. ft. Loft units are approximately 500 +/- sq. ft., one bedrooms are approximately 513 +/- sq. ft. and two bedrooms are approximately 900 +/- sq. ft. (We provide floor plans by clicking here.)

What do the different floor plans look like? We have our four different floor plans posted on the website. What do "Standard, Comfort and Deluxe" mean? Our units are categorized according to how updated they are. All of our units are fully equipped, i.e. loaded kitchen, fireplace, cable TV, phones and the like. A Standard unit will be sparse in decor and will probably have some dated furnishings in it. A Comfort unit will be a mix of a Standard unit and a more updated unit, sort of a "middle of the road," if you will. A Deluxe unit has been completely updated in decor. When we speak of decor, we mean, all flooring, paint, paper, furnishings, bedding, window treatments, etc. (See sample images on our photo gallery.)

What does the processing fee mean on your rates? A one-time linen processing and cleaning fee. This is a one-time setup of linens and toiletries. BRING EXTRA, especially if you plan on using the pool, sauna or Jacuzzi.

Do you have cabins or houses for rental? No, Sugar Ski is a condo resort only!

Do you have fireplaces? Fireplaces? Yes, wood burning fireplaces. Wood is available for sale at the front desk.

Will there be snow when we arrive? GOOD QUESTION! Will it rain when I go to the beach? Hopefully you will have snow. Also, the resort does have snow making capabilities if there is not enough natural snow, weather permitting, of course. The ski report number is 800-SUGARMT (784-2768) OR 828-898-4521.

Will I be able to make it up the mountain if it's snowing? If adverse conditions are present, the Sugar Mountain police will require you to have chains on your tires or be driving a 4WD to come up the mountain. COME PREPARED!

What is your cancellation policy? 30 days. If you cancel 30 days prior to date of arrival, you will receive all of your deposit back, minus a $30.00 cancellation fee. If you cancel within the 30 days, you will forfeit your advance deposit, unless we can re-rent the unit you booked for the same dates/days you had it booked for. THEN you will receive your deposit back minus a $30.00 processing fee.

Do you have any amenities? Yes! We have an indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. A tennis and basketball court and a shuffleboard court. We are surrounded by beautiful bike and hiking trails and plenty of areas to take that refreshing morning walk!

What is your elevation? We figure we are about 5000 ft. +/- above sea level.

Are there any restaurants or shops nearby? Yes, yes! Some of the finest eateries in the High Country are just minutes away in Banner Elk, the same is true for shopping! Food Lion and Lowes grocery stores are also just a few miles away.
